Folders on drive C: (most important in bold red):

Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, NT 4.0, & Mac OS X Windows ME, 98, & 95
  • User Profile Folders (includes Documents & Application Data):
    • Windows 7, Vista & Mac OS X:  Users
    • Windows XP & 2000: Documents and Settings
    • Windows NT 4.0:  WinNT \ Profiles
  • Windows Registry folder (or use your backup program's "Backup registry" option, if present):
    • 7, Vista & XP:  Windows \ system32 \ config
    • 2000 & NT:  WINNT \ system32 \ config
  • Any other data folders on any hard drive
  • My Documents
  • Multimedia Files  (if present)
  • Folders under Windows:
    • All Users
    • Application Data
    • Cookies
    • Desktop
    • Favorites
    • Local Settings
    • Nethood
    • Printhood
    • Profiles
    • SendTo
    • Start Menu
    • Registry files (or use your backup program's "Backup registry" option, if present):
      • User.dat
      • System.dat
  • Any other data folders on any hard drive
