Windows XP Limited User Account Practice

Make a new Administrator-Level Account:

  1. Open User Accounts
  2. Click "Create a new account"
  3. Under "Type a name for the new account", type:  MyAdmin
  4. Under "Pick an account type," click "Computer administrator"
  5. Under "Pick a task..." click on the new "MyAdmin" account icon
  6. Under "What do you want to change about MyAdmin's account?" click "Create a password"
  7. Under "Create a password for MyAdmin's account":
  8. At the top of the window, click "Home"

Activate the Guest Account:

Change your account to Limited

  1. Log off:
  2. Click MyAdmin
  3. Enter the password for MyAdmin
  4. Open User Accounts
  5. Click "Change an account"
  6. Click your regular account
  7. Click "Change the account type"
  8. Click "Limited"
  9. Click "Change Account Type"

Log back into your regular account

  1. Log off (see above)
  2. Click the icon for your regular account
  3. Enter your regular account's password, if any
